ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION — WAIHI BEACH SUP & KAYAK

We aim to make Stand Up Paddleboarding and kayaking as inclusive and enjoyable as possible for all participants. While our activities take place in a natural estuary environment, we want to be clear about conditions so visitors can make informed decisions and prepare accordingly.

🌿 Environment & Entry Conditions

Our sessions launch from an estuary area with:

    •    Mud and sand-based bottom

    •    Occasional shallow water sections

    •    No defined ramp or jetty

    •    Soft ground that can be uneven and slippery

    •    Changing conditions depending on tide, weather, and season

Footwear is recommended if you are sensitive to mud or uneven textures.

Barefoot is okay, but footwear is optional (water shoes, old sneakers etc).

🚶 Accessibility Considerations

Please note the following:

✔ Suitable For:

    •    Individuals comfortable walking on uneven or soft ground

    •    People able to step into shallow water

    •    Those with moderate mobility who can stand or sit in kayaks/SUPs

⚠ May Not Be Suitable For Without Support:

    •    Wheelchair users (no fixed ramp access currently)

    •    People with significant balance or mobility challenges

    •    Anyone requiring firm/solid ground to enter the water safely

We are exploring ways to improve accessibility — and we welcome your ideas and feedback.

🤝 Assistance & Support

We are happy to provide assistance where possible, including:

    •    Help with launching or landing

    •    Carrying equipment

    •    Providing seated kayak options instead of SUP

    •    Adjusting session locations depending on tide or needs

Please let us know in advance if you may require support so we can plan accordingly.

🧑‍⚕️ Medical & Safety Note

If you have mobility limitations, medical conditions, joint issues, or balance concerns, we recommend speaking with us beforehand so we can suggest the safest option — or adjust equipment/launch points where possible.

You must be able to:

    •    Exit the water safely if required

    •    Move independently or with basic assistance

    •    Follow safety instructions clearly
